“She Got Paid Under The Table”: Mo’nique Settles With Netflix And Drops Law-suit After Agreeing To Private Terms – Another Win In 2022 For The Comedian – Video

For Mo’ Nique, 2022 has been very visible because this is the most press attention she has received in a long time. But she has been wisely using this chance to promote her upcoming comedy shows and her Starz Network debut given by 50 Cent. After ten years of doing stand-up comedy, she became a regular face on tv with the Parkers.

The show was received well by the audience, and soon she managed to grab a role in a movie called ‘Precious’ directed by Lee Daniels and produced by Oprah and Tyler Perry.

Although the movie was a success, Mo said she had no interest to promote it because she wasn’t paid or contracted to do so. This caused a rift between her and Daniels, and she later claimed that he blackballed her by telling everyone she was hard to work with. Although she grabbed an Academy Award for Precious, she wasn’t finding any real work after that.
After that Mo was only able to do four films. The first being Blackbird which was directed by Patrik-Ian Polk. The movie was an adaptation of Larry Duplechan’s book Blackbird.

She then starred in an HBO tv film titled Bessie, where she played the role of iconic blues singer Ma Rainey. The movie was a massive success, and in 2015 it became the most watched HBO original film. She even won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Movie. In 2016, Mo went on to be a part of Interwoven – an American drama that followed true stories of people who struggled with homelessness. It was directed by V.W Scheich.

The same year she got another movie called Almost Christmas, where she played the role of aunt May Deveraux Johnson-Davis. It was a conversation with TS Madison this year that made people realize that Mo was being unfairly treated for something that happened years ago. One person who came to her defense was tv Moghul 50 Cent. He offered Mo a role on the series BMF, and he told her – “The best way to get back at anyone you feel did you wrong is to do good.”

Things seemed better when Mo finally received what she was waiting for for years – an apology from Lee Daniels. He asked her sorry for all the hurt he caused. Mo now has many projects coming her way and has been working on two films Demon House and The Reading. Her BMF episodes are also expected to air this year. Mo also has been able to settle her disputes with Netflix, where she charge them for offering her $500k for a comedy special while the other comedians were paid in millions.
